The founder of Glasgow fashion brand, Kiwi & Co, has opened up about life with kidney disease as she organises the ultimate 'girls day' charity event in the city centre in aid of a charity close to her heart.
Melissa explained the function of the kidney she received from her dad began to slow down at the age of 21, she then underwent dialysis treatment until receiving her mum's kidney through donation at the age of around 23 years-old - which she described as "amazing in itself because usually both parents aren't a match".
The 35-year-old has since been receiving dialysis treatment three nights a week at the New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow whilst she waits for a match - she has now entered into the sharing scheme with her sister which allows the pair to match with another two members who are in need.
