His son Sean announced the news on social media after McGarvey was diagnosed with cancer in October last year and tributes have flooded in from fans and clubs.After he retired from football in the late 1990s, McGarvey worked as a joiner and the team at his former place of work, Allan's Furniture Warehouse, has shared their tribute to him.
A spokesperson for the Tradeston firm wrote:"Our dear work colleague, friend and hero Frank Mcgarvey passed away peacefully this morning. "Condolences to all his family. He will be dearly missed by everyone at Allan’s Furniture. RIP Frank."Yvonne Groundland wrote:"So sorry to hear this he was a character full of personality. RIP."
