The invasive weed can cause severe skin burns and has appeared in a number of areas around the city including the River Clyde, River Kelvin, and White Cart Water.

Residents are being urged to stay away from giant hogweed that has grown in Glasgow as the summer months arrive.

Due to the bristling nature of the sap and its hairs, it is easy for people to brush up against giant hogweed without realising. “We apply herbicide to control growth when it is on council-owned land in locations where people might come into contact with it.
