The 65-year-old, who stays onin the south of the city, says he and his wife are at the end of their tether after repeated phone calls to pest control.
Speaking to Glasgow Live, he said: "I feel like a regular customer with Glasgow pest control because we've been dealing with the rats for nearly seven years. Since the turn of the year, we've had two rats in the house.
"My wife is at the end of her tether with it. Just last Friday, we found another rat in the kitchen.
"My youngest grandson sometimes comes around and I can't let him in the back for fear of him coming into contact with him. ", but claims the issue hasn't improved. He believes the problem has been made worse by a neighbour who hasn't maintained their garden since moving in seven years ago.
However, he says that all attempts to contact the landlord have fallen on deaf ears, and the council has even offered to step in. The granddad has even enlisted a handyman to fill holes in the house's foundations to stop the pests. He continued: "We're living day to day with this. We're constantly putting poison down.
" But Andrew believes that the problem is only getting worse, with him finding a nest of around ten rats beneath a tarpaulin. And since speaking to Glasgow Live, he says that his wife found a dead rat in the hall of the house. A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “We are aware of a pest control issue at a number of properties at this location and appropriate pest control treatments have been put in place.
“To ensure the effectiveness of a pest control treatment, residents, owners or factors must take steps to pest proof their property. “This includes ensuring food waste is disposed of properly within a suitable bin, bin courts are kept tidy and rubbish free and any potential access points into homes are appropriately blocked off. "
