Ian McNeil had no symptoms before he was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, which had spread to his lymph nodes, and underwent a prostatectomy. Five years on, he is 'living life to the fullest'.

A grandad was told by medics that he 'would be dead by 60' if his cancer hadn't been caught when it did. Ian McNeil had no symptoms before he was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, in 2018, aged 51.

He told Glasgow Live: "It’s quite devastating. It turns your world upside down and you immediately start searching everything about prostate cancer and the symptoms, and whether you are going to die. "The hormone treatment, I think, was the worst thing because it suppresses your testosterone. It stops you from being a man and you go through hot flushes, lose your sex drive and become tired - it’s pretty rough.

Five years on, Ian's cancer is undetectable and he is 'living life to the fullest'. He plans to travel the world with his wife, Liz, which includes visiting their son in Singapore.
