Stephen and Lorraine had only decided to go on holiday to take her mind off the anniversary of the murder of her 16-year-old son John Toner who was stabbed to death outside a shop in Glasgow's East End on September 4, 2004.
The partner of a Glasgow holidaymaker who was put into a coma for 15 days following a fall while on a weekend getaway in Benidorm has made a desperate plea to bring him home. Stephen Ross remains ‘unresponsive’ in a Spanish hospital nearly three weeks after he suffered a brain aneurism after falling and hitting his head in his hotel room on September, 24.
"I was sitting on the veranda and I heard two bangs. I turned around and he was lying there knocked out after tripping up on steps and knocking his head in the bathroom. She continued: "He was in hospital for two days and then they told me that he blood clots which had caused an aneurism in his brain. They said it would cost £30,000 and I was just beside myself because I didn't have the money."
She continued: "They took him for the operation and it seemed to go fine but the next day they had to take him back to surgery because his head was full of blood and it was putting pressure on his brain. They had to drain it or they said it could be really dangerous." "Since then I've called everyday. I know he's woken up but they say he isn't speaking and has only moved his arms and legs."
"I keep wishing this is all a dream because it's such a nightmare and I don't know what to do. I can't even afford to bring him home."
