Ryan MacIver was spotted assaulting the 8-month-old on a baby monitor.

A law student caught repeatedly slapping a baby "beetroot red" on a video monitor walked free from court.

The 24-year-old accessed a video baby monitor app which was focused on MacIver's bed. She clocked MacIver slapping the crying baby who was in his arms twice on 13 February this year.READ MORE: Tributes paid to 'lovely' Glasgow man feared dead in Jersey explosion Sheriff Kevin McCarron ordered MacIver to be of good behaviour until August next year at yesterday's sentencing.

MacIver later reported back to the woman that the boy ate his dinner but he "could not get him down."
