In tonight's Glasgow Lives, we talk to Janos about connecting with his Roma routes, as founder of Ando Glaso Roma Festival he aims celebrate tradion and push boundaries.
What I love most about what I do is seeing the impact our work has on the various Roma communities and individuals.
This realisation inspired me to establish Ando Glaso, where we use our cultural traditions, such as music, to uplift and strengthen our communities. As the creative director, I’m able to bring this vision to life, combining my passion for our heritage with my work to make a meaningful impact. A typical day for me involves overseeing our team of six dedicated people at Ando Glaso. We have different strands of work—Creative, Community Engagement, Heritage, and Youth Work—each with its own projects and focus areas.
This deep well of cultural wealth is something I feel passionate about preserving and sharing, not just within our community but with the wider world. The work we do at Ando Glaso is a collective effort. It’s not just about one person, but about the dedication and passion of our entire team, as well as the incredible support from Roma communities, our partners and funders.
