A Glasgow man who has been struggling for over 30 years is encouraging people to make a positive change to their mentalRichard Wood, 46, began having panic attacks at the age of 15, but ignored his worries and kept quiet about them for many years.

When he signed up to run the Edinburgh Marathon in aid of the Mental Health Foundation in 2019, he began writing openly about his struggles on his fundraising page – and was blown away by the reaction. "I think every conversation is important because it all helps break down those barriers and normalise things.”ScotlandOrganised by See Me, Time to Talk Day will run as a series of online and in-person events to get people to make time in the day to talk.As a new year begins, it is hoped that the event will encourage people to think differently about mental health and have these important conversations in places where they may face stigmas, such as in workplaces, schools, and colleges.
