Dozens of elderly people could be left with no where to go as a lifeline Easterhouse community club faces closure due to a lack of funding. The Daffodil Club could close as soon as December.

A lifeline community service for elderly people is facing closure after being turned down for funding.

The community club has been reliant on funders and trusts to keep them going and was able to secure funding from the Big Lottery for five years. After the pandemic, the group was turned down for further Big Lottery funding and the council's Communities Fund.

"We're open Monday to Friday and we welcome people with all different conditions, like dementia, diabetes, or other disabilities. In the morning they'll have tea and toast, then we'll do a bit of exercise, they'll have lunch and then they can play bingo, dominos or do arts and crafts. Lynda added: "We support a lot of frail elderly people who otherwise wouldn't get out of the house or see anyone. We went to Blackpool recently and the group that weren't able to come were so relieved when we got back because they hadn't seen anyone for days. They say they're going to die without us.
