Police have clashed with pro-Palestine protesters at a rally outside the Thales site in Govan this morning (May 15). Activists can be seen blocking the factory's entrance as cops close in on the crowd - officers have since made a 'number' of arrests.
Protesters are stood outside the Thales site in Govan this morning as they call for the UK Government to stop supplying arms to Israel.
The crowd formed at around 5am this morning and have remained in the area, blocking the entrance to the factory. Police Scotland has since made a 'number' of arrests following the demonstration.READ MORE: Furious Motherwell priest calls woman late for Mass 'evil' and a 'clown' in vicious rant In a video shared with Glasgow Live, several officers can be seen walking towards a group of protesters who appear to be standing in front of the site's entrance gates.
The demonstration comes on the 76th anniversary of the Nakba which was the violent displacement of Palestinian people in the 1948 war which established the state of Israel.Recent images from the factory shows the group holding banners which read "solidarity not complicity" and "Stop arming genocide."
The latest statement from Police Scotland reads: "Around 5.05am on Wednesday, 15 May, 2024 police were called to a report of a demonstration within the grounds of a business premises on Linthouse Road, Govan, Glasgow. Officers are in attendance and a number of arrests have been made."
