Glasgow's green-fingered residents are battling it out in a summer showdown to have their garden crowned the best.

The competition involves keen gardeners aged 55 and over who live in Wheatley Homes Glasgow or Loretto Housing Association homes, supported by the Livingwell Service, getting their hands dirty. Contestants have been challenged to beautify their gardens with the winning team earning the title 'Glasgow’s Best Garden'.The Wheatley Foundation, part of the Wheatley Group, has contributed towards the purchase of plants, compost, and equipment for communal garden areas.Laura Pluck, group director of communities at Wheatley Group, said:"Our gardening competition will run through the summer months, with a winning garden announced later this year.
