Glasgow's hourly forecast as snow and ice set to cause disruption and chaos

Saturday afternoon is expected to be cold and cloudy before snow batters Glasgow this evening

It's set to be a freezing weekend as the Met Office's yellow warning for snow and ice comes into force this evening.

The chances of snow blanketing the city have increased and it's set to cause disruption with roads and railway services being hit hard by the icy weather. People have also been warned to take extra care as icy surfaces could lead to injuries from slips and falls. The warning is in place from 6pm today to 6am on Sunday..

The Met Office forecast reads: "Some early brightness but still feeling cold. Turning cloudy for most areas with mainly light wintry showers, turning to rain at the coasts. Freshening winds around the coasts later too. "Sleet and snow initially will turn to rain around the west overnight. Likely to be quite light and drizzly at times with a lot of mist and cloud. Minimum temperature -1 °C.
