The Bellgrove Hotel was once described as being 'worse than prison' due to the abject conditions inside.
Glasgow City Council has confirmed the disposal of the land in the city's Gallowgate to Wheatley Homes Glasgow. This will allow 'progress on the delivery of regeneration' in the areas, reports Glasgow Live.
In 2014, we exposed how the owners were earning £1.5million a year in housing benefit, despite the homeless tenants having to live in squalor. Wheatley Homes Glasgow now plans to create 70 affordable new homes as part of the redevelopment of the former Bellgrove Hotel.
