Glasgow University is planning to build student housing on a car park owned by the university in the west end of Glasgow. The project aims to redevelop the Lillybank Gardens car park into a student-centered hub featuring modern accommodation and accessible public spaces. The university states that the proposal will address the shortage of student accommodation close to campus and ensure the area remains vibrant. The development is also expected to support local businesses and pay homage to the historic homes that once stood on the site.

According the the uni, the project aims to "redevelop the existing hardstanding area, currently used for parking, into a sympathetic, inclusive, student-centred hub, featuring modern accommodation and accessible public spaces". It is also hoped the development will support local businesses and pay homage to the historic homes that once stood on the site. Planners say the development will "restore" frontages to Lilybank Gardens and Great George Lane, turning the car park into a "lively and integrated space for the university and wider community".
