Snowy conditions for Glasgow shortly as a 'polar vortex' arrives ❄️ ⛄️
There are still weeks of winter to go, with wintry weather expected to hit Glasgow in the coming weeks, with up to seven inches of snow expected across the UK.
Conditions have differed throughout January, with Glasgow and the west experiencing days of mild conditions in the opening days before a cold snap hit the city. And the unsettled, changeable weather is set to continue, with WXChart forecasting snow across Glasgow throughout Sunday, February 5, with wintry showers continuing throughout the following week.The heaviest snow showers are forecast to fall on Tuesday, January 7, with over 2cm of snow per hour likely throughout Glasgow.
The Met Office forecast for the week beginning January 6 states that "Generally changeable weather conditions are expected across the UK", with temperature expected to be average for the time of year. "Computer models are suggesting that a weakening of the Stratospheric Polar Vortex in the coming weeks could lead to an increasing chance of cold weather during February", he said.
