The follow-up to the 2019 murder mystery is getting rave reviews.
For Janelle Monáe, the chance to work with Johnson, and in a challenging role at that, was the opportunity of a lifetime.
"I love the first one. I was a fan and I've always wanted to work with Rian Johnson so if I was given the the opportunity ever, I'm saying yes. And then after reading that script, it was like, hell yes. This is a role of a lifetime," the singer said. "It's so fun, and I love the murder mystery genre. I think what he's done in the space and Daniel as well, like he just has this iconic role. What they’ve been able to do is innovating the space, modernise the characters. Obviously, the genre has been around for a while, but I think that there's just a specific tone that only Rian has."
