Elton’s performance also broke the record for an overnight audience on BBC One at Glastonbury, with a five-minute peak audience of 7.6 million and held an average of 7.3 million viewers.

This was followed closely by Saturday’s live stream with Friday’s instalment having 3.2 million views. Meanwhile, music from the weekend was listened to 2.8 million times on BBC Sounds, which was also a 26% increase compared to the year before. Radio 2 favourite Zoe Ball topped the charts with her coverage of the variety of live performances and interviews with artists such as Fatboy Slim, Basil Brush as well as a workout led by Joe Wicks.
