This festive period, Water Safety Scotland, along with its partners, is warning Glaswegians of the potential consequences of drinking alcohol near the city's waterways.

This festive period Water Safety Scotland , along with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Glasgow Humane Society are warning people about the dangers of drinking near the city's waterways.

He said: “If you are drinking alcohol on a night out over the festive period, please plan your route home to avoid walking near water. William Graham from Glasgow Humane Society added: “We want everyone to have a great time and stay safe this Christmas. Remember areas with frozen waters can be beautiful to look at, but they are also extremely dangerous.

"If you’ve had a drink, take care near the water and look out for your friends. Alcohol seriously affects your judgement and control. Remember to be safe around waterways."With many struggling with the additional pressures this time of year brings, we want you to know that there are people and organisations who can and will provide support.
