A Globe engineer who leads the rollout of new technology was recently awarded the 1st ASEAN Outstanding Young Engineers Award 2022 for his contributions to the advancement of the engineering profession, his company, and the ASEAN.
Candidates from ASEAN countries underwent a comprehensive and demanding evaluation process, which assessed the impact of their implemented projects on nation-building, community service and extension works, career and people development, academic excellence and published research, and contributions to professional organizations.
“Gerhard’s passion, dedication, and expertise are a testament to the high-quality work that our team at Globe is known for, and we are grateful to have him as a leader in our company. His award is a reflection of his hard work and commitment, and we are excited to see what he will achieve in the future,” said Joel Agustin, SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering at Globe.
In Globe, Tan is responsible for testing, research and development of new products, devices and technologies including 5G use cases, Internet of Things , and energy efficiency initiatives, among others. He was one of Globe’s key technical subject matter experts during the largest network transformation in 2011, and in the preparation and staging of the company’s 5G Air Fiber Commercial launch in 2019.
