PC Joel Hopkins later handed himself in
A Greater Manchester Police officer has been banned from the force after he ran from the scene of a crash.
But instead he 'ignored the request' and ran from the scene. He later handed himself in at Leigh police station and reported the crash.In May 2023, PC Hopkins pleaded guilty to making off from the scene of an incident at Liverpool Magistrates' Court. He was banned from driving for six months and was fined £2,500.
He admitted his actions 'amounted to gross misconduct'. Chief Constable Stephen Watson, who presided over the hearing, also ordered PC Hopkins’ name be added to the College of Policing Barred List.
