Leeds United confirm their starting lineup for the Championship clash against Swansea City, with Wilfried Gnonto named among the substitutes after a late fitness test.
Wilfried Gnonto has been named on the bench for Leeds United 's clash with Swansea City this afternoon, despite being a late fitness doubt. The playmaker sustained an ankle knock while on international duty with Italy's Under-21s on Friday and had to return to Thorp Arch early for recovery. Gnonto's participation was uncertain until the last minute, but he will be providing support from the substitutes' bench.
Meanwhile, Brenden Aaronson, who missed out on US squad selection during the international break, will continue his impressive run with his 37th straight league start. Also starting is Ethan Ampadu, having made a remarkable recovery from his knee cartilage injury sustained six weeks ago. He partners Joe Rothwell, who also rested during the international break. Ao Tanaka, returning late this week from Japan duty, and Junior Firpo, who hadn't returned from the Dominican Republic by Thursday morning, both find themselves on the bench. Sam Byram gets the nod at left-back.Illan Meslier will be aiming for his 22nd clean sheet of the season, which would surpass last season's total of 21. Joe Rodon, ever-present in the Championship this season, lines up against his former club. Pascal Struijk and Jayden Bogle, rested during the international break, appear refreshed at centre-back and right-back respectively. Joel Piroe, who turned down a call-up to the Suriname national team, seeks his first goal in five games, hoping to add to his 15 for the season. He is joined by fellow former Swan Daniel James, who scored for Wales, and Manor Solomon, who provided an assist for Israel last week.
