Here's a way to help the Battie family.
SARASOTA, Fla. - Family friends of two former Suncoast athletes have set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical and funeral expenses following a weekend shooting.
The shooting happened overnight at the Tallywood Centre, Saturday morning in the the 3400 block of 17th Street. ABC7 later learned that former Braden River High School football player, Tommie L. Battie IV, was pronounced dead at the scene. A source confirmed to ABC7 that Tommie’s brother Brian was being treated at the hospital following injuries sustained during the shooting. Brian Battie plays for Auburn University and now appears to be on a ventilator, according to his coach.
Auburn Head Football Coach Hugh Freeze posted an update on Brian just after noon Monday, “Auburn family. Please continue to pray for Brian Battie. There was a set back last night and he’s still on a ventilator.” The godparents of Brian and Tommie have started a Gofundme to help with the cost of medical expenses and funeral costs.Tipster to get $15K reward for help with Atlanta Highway shooting suspect’s arrestRed Lobster seeks bankruptcy protection days after closing dozens of restaurants
