EXCLUSIVE: Intelligent and caring, Gogglebox and Springwatch presenter Megan McCubbin stands united with her step-dad Chris Packham in the battle against ITV's hit show, I'm a Celebrity
It seems that whilst a new stint on Celebrity Gogglebox with step-dad Chris Packham, 62, is a fun step into more telly gigs, there’s no chance you’ll catch Megan McCubbin on reality TV anytime soon - especially one in particular.
She said: "Chris is a massive advocate for changing the show and has sent a lot of open letters to Ant and Dec saying ‘would you consider stopping animal abuse on your show?’ but it has been ignored every single time.And it’s not just the eating challenges that get to Megan, with other activities, she believes, pushing the wrong message.
"It celebrates our freshwater ecosystems and talks about how everyone can get involved from our garden ponds, community ponds, farmland ponds, there’s so much out there that we can do to help these habitats." "The soothing sounds of the water, the repetition of how the water moves, and for me it’s a natural wonder.Down-to-earth, Megan is a true inspiration. Highly educated and a fully qualified zoologist, conservationist and photographer, she admitted that podcasts and television wasn’t her plan, she just wanted to "be a scientist, working out in the field with different species."
"When I was 12 I started volunteering at what is now known as the Wild Hut Trust on the Isle of Wight and that specialises in the rescue and rehabilitation of ex-circus animals. With school children across the UK receiving their exam results last week, Megan stressed that "students still don’t get the support they should" and that school can feel "alienating" when you’re different."Kids can be really cruel. I’ve heard the most horrendous name-calling because you’ve perhaps needed extra time.
