Continued construction delays caused by Zachry's abandonment of the export terminal project could lead to a near complete shutdown of the site, the owner says.
San Antonio ’s Zachry Holdings Inc. is holding the the engineering and construction contract on the massive Golden Pass LNG export terminal “hostage” instead of transferring it so work can proceed, the project’s owner alleges. In Zachry’s bankruptcy case in Houston , Golden Pass LNG Terminal LLC filed an emergency motion Tuesday asking a judge to order Zachry to reject the contract for construction of the $10 billion-plus liquefied natural gas export terminal in Southeast Texas .

It simultaneously terminated more than 4,000 workers and indicated it would exit the project. “Zachry’s abandonment has turned large segments of the Project dark, and continued delay risks a near complete shut-down at the project site,” Golden Pass said.
