The 29-year-old is set to return just months after telling Rory McIlroy where to go at a players' meeting after the PGA Tour, LIV Golf and DP World Tour merger
A golf "bad boy" who once told Rory McIlroy to "f*** off" during a players' meeting has got his PGA Tour card back.
However, his antics on the course far outweigh his work with a club in hand. At last year's US Open, Murray's temper got the better of him as he threw his putter over the back of the green before snapping an iron over his knee during a frustrating final round at Brookline.A month later, he was back in the headlines after walking off and withdrawing himself from the tournament at the Barbasol Championship with three holes remaining of his first round.
The verbals began with the Northern Irishman taking umbrage with Murray for demanding that PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan resign over the merger. “We don’t trust you, Jay – you lied to our face,” the American reportedly shouted. Murray finished in a tie for sixth at the John Deere Classic before tying for seventh at the Barbasol Championship, 12 months after withdrawing early in frustration. After the latest win at The Grove, he has reflected on his turnaround.
