During an interview on Good Morning Britain, Adil Ray's line of questioning regarding Shirlie Kemp and Andrew Ridgeley's past romance sparked both amusement and discomfort. While discussing their recent documentary, Ray delved into their early dating history, prompting lighthearted responses from both guests and a playful rebuke from host Charlotte Hawkins.
On Friday's Good Morning Britain , Adil Ray received a playful reprimand while interviewing Shirlie Kemp and Andrew Ridgeley about their recent BBC documentary, Wham! : Last Christmas Unwrapped. Host Charlotte Hawkins pointed out the long-standing friendship between Shirlie and Andrew since their school days. To which Andrew began to share: 'We grew up together really, we spent some of the most significant years of our lives-'.
Adil interjected with curiosity about their past romantic link, asking: 'You two were dating at one point weren't you?' Andrew acknowledged their history with the phrase: 'We stepped out.' Shirlie echoed fondly: 'I like that, 'we stepped out' yeah.' Probing further, Adil asked whether Shirlie had been chaperoned on dates after hearing how George Michael had been present on her first date with Martin Kemp, reports the Mirror. Charlotte chided Adil as Shirlie chuckled uncomfortably, remarking: 'They might not want to talk about the details!' Andrew quipped in response to the prying question: 'I was extremely well brought up. I know how to behave.' Despite the slightly intrusive questions from Adil, the group shared a laugh before the ITV host wrapped up the interview, saying: 'Ah, I love that.' Shirlie also shared a personal anecdote during the chat, revealing how her now-husband reacted when George showed up on their first date, clarifying it was because she didn't want to go alone. Adil humorously exclaimed: 'What are we in the Victorian times? Are we in the 1920s?' to which Charlotte lightheartedly responded: 'I think that's lovely!' Shirlie admitted her limited dating experiences and shared Martin's encouraging reaction: 'He was like, 'right, ok then go and have a dance'.' In a different segment, both Shirlie and Andrew recalled the boozy antics during the filming of the Last Christmas music video
