Nottingham's iconic Goose Fair has concluded after a week of funfair excitement. Thousands flocked to the Forest Recreation Ground for rides, food stalls, and exhilarating new attractions like the world's largest propeller ride, 'Henry Danter's Aerospace'. As the fair closes, workers are busy dismantling rides and clearing up the site.
Goose Fair is over for another year. After 10 late nights full of screams and lights, rides are disassembled and caravans vacate the park.
Nottingham's famous funfair attracted thousands of visitors in just over a week, but Forest Recreation Ground felt much more subdued on Monday morning as the clear-up began. Workers were on site packing up the equipment throughout the day. The latest instalment of the fair hosted all the favourites, including the Ferris wheel, dodgems, gallopers, waltzers and ghost trains, as well as the much-loved mushy peas and cock on a stick food stalls. It also saw the arrival of the world's largest propeller ride, the 213-foot Henry Danter's Aerospace. Also new for 2024 was Apollo 13, which rises to 180ft and hurtles passengers at speeds of up to 80mph, plus Top Scan, Hulk - XL Super Trooper and Equinox.
Photos from the clear-up show parts of the ground marked by tracks from trucks and rides, with patches of grass flattened and muddy from the week’s activities.
