The figure was calculated by comparing National Audit Office estimates of the unit prices of PPE items with the total numbers disposed of using energy from waste processes, and was not disputed by the DHSC. Some 19,600 pallets were recycled while 131,900 pallets were sent to make energy from waste , a document showed.
