Peers backing the amendments have insisted they are not trying to block the bill and the expectation is that it will eventually pass.But the Lords are digging their heels in over issues around Rwanda being a safe country and ensuring international law is not ignored. If the support for such amendments looks to be unwavering, the Government could have to start looking to find some form of compromise with peers to get the legislation through.
