The Government has been urged to 'update Parliament on your progress in responding to the PHSO's report' before the Christmas Parliamentary recess, marked for this Thursday (December 19)
Millions of women across the UK who are awaiting news on potential £3,000 compensations might be closer to an update, as the Government has recently provided a new response following an incisive call from a cross-party group of MPs. The collective had earlier sent a letter demanding that ministers "update Parliament on your progress in responding to the PHSO's report" by the time of the Christmas Parliamentary recess scheduled for this Thursday .
Responding to Logan's inquiry, Emma Reynolds, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, made her statement acknowledging the serious implications of the delay: "I thank him for that question. I was the first minister for eight years to meet with the WASPI campaigners to listen to their concerns. The ombudsman took six years to investigate six cases."
The Government has shown some willingness to address the issue, indicated by pensions minister Emma Reynolds who recently met with WASPI campaigners and mentioned that the government is "listening respectfully" to the concerns of affected women. .
