PHOENIX, AZ — More mental health help may be on the way to Arizona after Governor Katie Hobbs signed a new law allowing certain counselors from other states to see Arizona patients.
“I believe the bill, the Counseling Compact bill opens doors and avenues that we have never seen before in our state,” Sheets said. “Every individual that's licensed in a compact state is eligible but needs to actually apply for the privilege to a practice in another member state,” Sheets said. The new law could also potentially help schools, where Arizona is ranked last in the nation for student-to-counselor ratio, according to the American School Counseling Association.
