In a lead-up to a trip to Alaska’s North Slope, Gov. Mike Dunleavy was joined by Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, and members of the U.S. House of Representative Natural Resources committee to talk about how the Biden Administration’s restrictions on resource development are impacting the state.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - In a lead-up to a trip to Alaska’s North Slope , Gov. Mike Dunleavy was joined by Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, and members of the U.S. House of Representative Natural Resources committee to talk about how theDunleavy compared the sanctions on the state of Alaska to those of foreign authoritarian regimes. They said the restrictions impact natural resource development across Alaska and the nation and are also a national security issue.

“What is the cost to Alaska when a particular project — or particular play, whether it be oil, mining, and timber, is shut down — what is that cost-lost opportunity? We estimate that’s in the billions, if not close to a trillion dollars,” Dunleavy said. Idaho Rep. Russ Fulcher added that the national debt is $35 trillion, and “we are forced to purchase from our enemy.”
