Manchester United midfielder Grace Clinton is confident that the Reds can compete for the Women's Super League title this season. After a successful loan spell with Tottenham, where she scored four goals and helped them reach the FA Cup final, Clinton is eager to make an impact at Old Trafford.

Manchester United midfielder Grace Clinton is confident the Reds can compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for the Women's Super League title this season and is relishing the chance to "impress" supporters after her hugely successful loan spell with Tottenham.

"In the summer, when I knew I was coming back , and it was clarified that I wasn't going anywhere, it was sort of a weight off my shoulders," she tells the MEN and other selected media. "There was a lot of talk and everything but to know you’re back and your ambition and your goal of the season, it's just clarifying.

Born and raised on Merseyside, Clinton came through Everton's academy before signing her first professional contract in April 2021. She signed a three-year deal with United two years ago but, after struggling to pick up first-team minutes, she joined Championship side Bristol City in January 2023. While Clinton has had to bid north London farewell, she will be joined by a familiar face at Leigh Sports Village, with United having signed the midfielder's former Spurs teammate and close friend Celin Bizet earlier this month. "She called me one day and told me it was possibly happening but you don't get your hopes up, do you? Because then imagine if she wasn't coming," Clinton says.

"I think we've made really good signings this year and they've settled in so well," she says. "Our pre-season has been hard but it's been going really well. We've got high expectations at United so we're definitely going into every game wanting to win.
