It's almost time to bid farewell to DI Geordie and Reverend Alphy as Grantchester comes to an end.
After 12 years, the long-running ITV crime drama is coming to an end as fans prepare to say goodbye to Grantchester 's DI Geordie Keating and Reverend Alphy Kottaram The tenth season ended in February this year with viewers eagerly awaiting an update on what's in store for the unlikely duo's final mystery.
As the last ever series will air in America this month, the two actors gave people a glimpse at what they can expect to see. In a clip shared on Masterpiece PBS' Instagram, Robson and Rishi were on set of the period drama in front of an old-fashioned ambulance. Robson said: "Season 11! But, it's not just season 11, it's the final ever season of Grantchester!
" The actor then made a fake crying sound before launching himself at Rishi for a hug. He then questioned what viewers can expect to see for Revered Alphy in the last instalment of the show. Rishi replied: "Oh, he's going through a lot. Up and down, he's in the gutter.
We have a falling out, don't we?
" A sneak peek was then played of the pair in character, with DI Geordie less than impressed with Alphy's behaviour. However, when it comes to Robson's long-running role on the series, the actor teased there could be a replacement on the way. He commented: "For Geordie, is it time for him to pass on the baton?
" Another preview was then played, showing Georgie telling a younger man: "You're a Detective Inspector in the making. " Although season 11 marks the end for Grantchester, both Robson and Rishi confessed that it's the best season yet. It wasn't long before people commented on the post, distraught that the show is finishing after 12 years. One person said: "All GREAT things must come to an end…but the last season will be relished by those who love this show.
" Someone else wrote: "Sad it will be the last season, but can't wait to watch the new season. This series is soooo good!
" Another added: "Cannot wait, but sorry it's the ending season. " One person commented: "Sad it'll be the last one, but can't wait to watch it! Maybe you can do a few spinoff series? Maybe we can see what Will Davenport has been up to in Newcastle?
" Sadly, fans will have to wait a while to watch the last episodes as the show will be airing in America on June 12, with no confirmed date for UK broadcasting, as it's rumoured not to be until next year. Season 1-10 of Grantchester are available to watch on ITVX.
