Autumn seems to have arrived
Greater Manchester is facing heavy rain this morning with a Met Office weather warning in force for several hours. It appears autumn has finally arrived today , with the recent heatwave making way for downpours and more typical temperatures.
The region is currently being battered by rain, and the Met Office expects similar conditions throughout the morning. A yellow weather warning was issued overnight for rain, covering Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside. Parts of Lancashire, Yorkshire and the midlands are also affected. The Met Office says people in these areas should expect heavy rain with the potential to cause some flooding and disruption, particularly on the roads. The weather warning came into effect at 1am this morning and is in force for 12 hours, ending at 1pm. Meanwhile, the Met Office forecast for Manchester is predicting rain to last beyond the 12 hours.
Heavy rain is expected throughout the morning, turning to lighter rain by 3pm. The Met Office says the city can expect dry weather from around 4pm. Temperatures will reach a high of 15C in the city today, almost half the numbers Manchester experienced in last week's sunshine. Things are looking better for tomorrow though, with sunshine currently forecast for the morning, turning to cloudy spells in the afternoon, before the wet weather is expected to return on Thursday.
