Nearly 100 Greater Manchester railway stations will be served by yellow Bee Network trains by 2030, with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) taking rail services into public control. The plan, announced by Mayor Andy Burnham, promises simpler fares, integrated ticketing, and improved services. The first phase of the rollout will begin in December 2026, with the full network operational by December 2030.

Vernon Everitt, Greater Manchester Transport Commissioner, called it an ‘ambitious plan’. He added: “We have demonstrated what can be done with greater local control and accountability for tram, bus and active travel. Its first phase, set for December 2026, will take over lines from Manchester Piccadilly to Hadfield, Glossop, and Rose Hill Marple. Phase one will also take over the Manchester Victoria to Stalybridge route.
