Young people living in the town are having to go further afield for school as those nearby are full up
Calls for a new secondary school in Littleborough has been backed by Rochdale ’s MP as he tells ministers of the "dire need" to create more places for pupils.
He said that the creation of a new secondary school in the Pennines area would relieve pressure on schools in the centre of Rochdale, and also provide much needed new provision for children with special educational needs . Mr Waugh said that traffic solutions had to be found to ensure the new school was integrated into the area, but the lack of school places had to be resolved urgently.
By November 2023, with the review completed, Rochdale Council were informed that the scheme had been ‘unpaused’, but the subsequent general election meant that once again there is confusion as to the status of the much needed new school.
