A new bakery looks likely to replace a unit vacated by Dunkin' Donuts
Greggs has brought forward more plans for a new store in a Nottinghamshire retail park amid a huge national expansion program. The UK's largest bakery chain has submitted more plans that suggest it is looking to bring its sausage rolls and sweet treats to Wilford Lane Retail Park in West Bridgford .
The Newcastle-based business would appear to be preparing to move into Unit 2B at the park, which was occupied by Dunkin' Donuts until February this year. Ahead of the potential opening of the new location, Greggs has asked Rushcliffe Borough Council for permission to put up new signs and install air conditioning units and extraction grilles at the vacant unit.
Planning agents for the company said oven condensers would be fitted to stop cooking odours from escaping the bakery. They added that while steps would be taken to limit the amount of noise emanating from the shop, the new store would not make a significant impact on the noise produced by the retail park.The sandwich and pasties seller previously brought forward plans to install its familiar brand signs at the unit, but the council has not yet decided on whether to allow these changes.
Greggs was contacted for comment, but had not responded by the time of publication. The planning application is pending consideration by Rushcliffe Borough Council. Greggs recently confirmed it would be opening another Nottinghamshire store in Carlton in the near future. The company recently submitted plans to turn the old Lloyds Bank on Carlton Hill into one of its new locations.
