Some people are still living in hotels.
Some people who lost their homes in the Grenfell Tower fire are still living in hotels and other temporary accommodation, the government admitted.
Housing minister Kit Malthouse said of those 15, ‘six whole households remain in emergency accommodation, only two in hotels, and three in serviced apartments, and one is living with family or friends’.Speaking in the House of Commons, he said that while the Government is ‘very close’ to being able to rehouse everyone who lost their home a ‘small number’ of people were yet to be found new permanent accommodation.
Mr Malthouse responded: ‘We have been putting enormous effort into the rehousing of the 202 households from Grenfell Tower and Grenfell Walk which require rehousing.‘Everyone has accepted an offer of either high quality temporary accommodation or permanent accommodation. A hundred and ninety six have moved in. A hundred and eighty one have moved into their permanent home, and 15 remain in temporary accommodation.
