An estimated 300,000 people joined mass protests in Australia, while activists in Thailand hosted a"die-in" and schoolchildren marched through the streets of New Delhi, India.this Friday in countries such as New Zealand, Italy, Canada and Finland.
Tens of thousands of people marched to New Zealand's parliament in Wellington, making it one of the largest protests ever held there, and through the streets of Auckland.Raven Maeder from School Strike 4 Climate, who organised the Wellington march, told the crowd that ahough it was easy to feel like"the forces that are destroying both the planet and our people are going to win", she felt hope.
Ahead of Friday's protests, Miss Thunberg tweeted that New Zealand was"leading the way", adding:"Good luck everyone striking around the world. Change is coming!!"Earlier this week, the Swedish activist said Arnold Schwarzenegger had offered to"lend her his electric car" so she could travel to the Montreal protest in the most eco-friendly way possible.
"A lot of people have offered to lend us, for example, their electric car," she told a Scandinavian talk show. "The best offer is probably, or so-called 'best', but one of the funniest offers I've received is that Arnold Schwarzenegger has offered me to lend his electric car if I want to."
