Helen Thornton, 45, abused her partner ‘almost night after night’ during their 19-year marriage, a court heard. Despite this, he still made every effort to ‘love and support her’, Hull Crown Court heard.
The court heard the man suffered abuse and attacks ‘almost night after night’. Thornton threatened to make false allegations against him which could have damaged his career, which prompted him to start recording their conversations to protect himself. After the case, the man, who is in the process of divorcing her, told a reporter at Grimsby Live: ‘I just don’t want her to hurt anyone else.’ Thornton was remanded in custody from before the trial after she repeatedly breached her bail conditions.
