Farmers' group Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura sees a steady supply of pork in 2023 as the Philippine Statistics Authority reported a 4.5 percent increase in swine production in the third quarter of 2022.Sinag President Rosendo So on Saturday said that the prevailing retail price of pork kasim is expected to remain at P300 per kilo and pork liempo for P350 per kilo with low farmgate prices between P170 to P180 per kilo.
The farmgate prices are averaging between P170 to P180 per kilo and the retail prices range from P300 for kasim and P350 for liempo,' So noted.Based on the latest report of the PSA, the country's total hog production increased to 436,680 metric tons liveweight in the third quarter of 2022, from 418,070 liveweight in the same quarter of last year.'This indicates an annual growth rate of 4.5 percent, a turnaround from the -17.8 percent decline in 2021,' the PSA said.
