The Cleveland Guardians have acquired RHP Spencer Howard from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -
Howard has been optioned to Triple-A Columbus, and in a corresponding move, RHP Wes Parsons has been designated for assignment.In his five MLB seasons, Howard has a 4-12 record with a 6.93 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 45 career appearances. This season Howard has made seven appearances and two starts with the Giants, and on June 30 was designated for assignment by San Francisco.
Howard was originally selected by Philadelphia in the 2nd round out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, debuting with the Phillies during the 2020 season before being traded to the Rangers at the 2021 trade deadline. He was a non-roster invitee to spring training by San Francisco this off-season.
