The Guardians activated lefty Matthew Boyd from the injured list to start against the Cubs on Tuesday.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians have activated left-handed starter Matthew Boyd from the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Cubs at Progressive Field. In a corresponding move, right-hander Peter Strzelecki has been optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
He is 42-65 with a 4.92 ERA in his career. Manager Stephen Vogt admitted he was excited to write Boyd’s name on the lineup card before Tuesday’s game. After a long road back from surgery, rehabbing on his own and then signing with Cleveland, Vogt said Boyd can not wait to pitch for the Guardians.
