Lively broke a personal two-start losing streak as he held the powerful Phillies to one run on three hits. He struck out six and walked two on 90 pitches. The inning looked like it would be extended when 260-pound Jhonkensy Noel caught shortstop Trea Turner napping with his speed. Noel was called safe at first on Turner’s high throw to the the bag but the Phillies challenged the call. After a lengthy review, Noel was called out to end the inning.Andres Gimenez opened the inning with a single.
It could have been ruled a hit because Naylor reached first safely, but Sanchez elected to try to get Gimenez at the plate. Sanchez retired Steven Kwan for the second out, but Martinez blooped a single into left field to score Rocchio for a 3-0 lead.
