David Fry tied the All-Star Game with an RBI single in the third inning as the American League scored a comeback win.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Emmanuel Clase is used to facing pressure-filled situations, but in his two career All-Star Game appearances, the Guardians closer has barely needed to break a sweat.
Clase’s save highlighted the efforts of five Cleveland All-Stars, including David Fry, whose RBI single in the third inning tied the score 3-3 as the AL rallied for five straight runs after Shohei Ohtani put the NL in front with a three-run home run. “The biggest thing right now was having my daughter here,” Fry said. “Her crawling around the locker room in front of all these All-Stars and Hall of Famers and she doesn’t even know what’s going on. It was so cool. And then just being here with so many teammates too. Having five guys from the Guards has been so much fun. There’s a lot to still take in, but it’s something I’ll never forget.”
