Guardians lefty will return for start against Diamondbacks on Monday

Left-hander Logan Allen could return to Cleveland's roster for a Monday start against Arizona.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians left-hander Logan Allen is set to return to the starting rotation Monday for Cleveland’s series opener against the Diamondbacks, a club source told cleveland.com. Right-hander Triston McKenzie, meanwhile, continues to make progress at Triple-A Columbus, according to pitching coach Carl Willis.

McKenzie struck out 11 and scattered four hits over six innings Saturday for Columbus in a 3-0 win against Syracuse at Huntington Park. Guardians pitching coach Carl Willis said it seemed like McKenzie threw all the pitches in his arsenal for strikes. The Guardians have Allen, Ben Lively and Carlos Carrasco lined up to face the Diamondbacks in the upcoming three-game series.
