Guardians right-hander Alex Cobb has a fractured fingernail. Lefty Anthony Gose has rejoined the club from Triple-A.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians starting pitcher Alex Cobb is heading to the 15-day injured list with a fractured fingernail on his right hand, the club announced ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Yankees in New York.
In corresponding moves, the Guardians moved left-hander Sam Hentges from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list freeing up a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty reliever Anthony Gose. Cleveland designated Gose for assignment last week, and he accepted an outright assignment back to Triple-A Columbus.
Hentges, who missed 34 games at the start of the season with a sore middle finger on his left hand, has been sidelined since July 11 with left shoulder inflammation and was set to meet with a specialist last week in Dallas.
