Jack Grealish impressed for England against Republic of Ireland on Saturday
Kevin De Bruyne 's Manchester City future is still uncertain. The Belgian, who was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the transfer window, has less than one year left on his contract and could depart for free next summer.
That has no doubt given City fans a lift, but at some point Pep Guardiola must think about planning for life without the superstar. City could look at signing a new No.10 with a view to replacing De Bruyne in the long-term or they might be able to look within, with a certain Jack Grealish more than capable to fill in his role.
Although he hasn't played much this season, Grealish looked sharp from the off. When he got the ball, Grealish was not afraid to drive at the Ireland back-line and create opportunities. Alongside this, Grealish was composed in possession and didn't keep the ball for too long either, feeding the ball off when needed.
As well as scoring, Grealish was unfortunate not to grab an assist. In the first-half, he made a lung busting run from his own half and towards the edge of the Ireland area, he then played a neat pass to Harry Kane but his strike was blocked. There were a couple of other occasions which Grealish came close to getting an assist - another was when he linked up with Anthony Gordon in the second period but his effort was saved.
